The Meadowsweet Trust

The land and buildings of meadowsweet farm owned by Paul & Debra Nortyn, is going to become part of the Meadowsweet Trust. This will be an umbrella trust for the many activities it supports, fostering a sustainable & self sufficient venture for the future, for the planet and its people.

The many facets of the trust will be to:

  • Develop sustainability for the future. We are looking at wind power, and have already begun solar.
  • Develop a vegetarian self sufficient lifestyle.
  • Educational activities for resident home schooled children, visiting and local children.
  • run holidays for orphans, and children from abroad. We have a link with Kitezh, a Russian eco village farm and community, which cares for orphans in the family homes within the community.

We also own land in Tenerife which will become part of the trust. The trees on the land produce a range of sub-tropical fruits. We aim to provide accommodation in the near future.

Come and visit a small farm in the west of Ireland run on organic, biodynamic and vegetarian principles.

We have 8 acres of land planted with many native trees, regenerating hedgerows, reed beds and ponds to encourage wildlife.

There are old & young orchards, vines, a willow tunnel, soft fruits areas, a pony to ride, goats, sheep, ducks & bees.

There are four poly tunnels and outside vegetable and herb areas.

Visitors may choose to rent our holiday cottage or our wooden house accommodation, and enjoy the local scenery, - lochs, hills, bogs and paths across unspoilt ancient landscape, or you may choose to stay around the farm and learn self sufficiency skills by helping us in our daily work.
