Meadowsweet Family Farm and Nature Centre

We have been welcoming families here to Meadowsweet Farm since 2002.

There is an opportunity to share in exploration of nature, feeling our interconnectedness with all of life.

We run the farm on vegetarian and biodynamic principles

Events 2009

  • Holidays throughout the year from June until September – family accommodation in thatched cottage
  • Family nature retreat – Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July
  • Children's week-long summer nature, art and music camp – 6th July to 10 th July inc
  • "The Beauty of the Bog" – 11th July (families)
  • The Spiritual Midwifery Training Programme – starts Saturday 30th May and runs for 9 months.
  • Farm Open Day – Sunday 2nd August
  • Christmas devotional and contemplative inter-faith family retreat – 18th to 20th December.

Holidays

We offer holidays in our 3 bedroomed thatched cottage, with the opportunity for families to join in morning home-schooling activities and farm chores,

We keep goats for milk, and sheep for wool which we spin. We also have a donkey, cat, Kune-Kune pigs, ducks and bees.

We grow vegetables and herbs in polytunnels outside, and grapes in a large conservatory.

There is a small old apple orchard, a larger orchard more recently planted.

We sell blackcurrants and tayberries in the summer.

We have a meditation room overlooking the orchards.

Cost Per Week €400. Sleeps 9. Two families could share – same cost.

Family Nature Retreat.

From Friday evening 3 rd July, Saturday 4 th July, until Sunday afternoon 5 th July.

Self catering breakfast. All vegetarian meals provided. Cottage available and caravan.

Sharing of parents with children ages 8-12years in various nature activities:- spinning, building a willow bird-hide and bird walk, herb walk and workshop, bog walk locally with pool-dipping – led by expert in peatland conservation and much more

€300, family of 4, residential weekend

Spiritual Midwifery Training Programme

A nine month training course starting May 30 th , one Saturday per month.

Farm Open Day

Sunday August 2 nd , 2pm till 5:30pm

Everyone welcome. No entrance fee. Fruit and vegetable stall – food produced using chemical free & biodynamic principles.

Pick your own blackcurrants, €5 per punnet, punnets provided.

Tea and home made cakes – no charge.

Children must be well supervised as we have two large ponds on our land.

Pony rides for children at small cost and nature walks with Birdwatch Ireland member.
